Sweet Bar-B-Que Sauce Recipe

brown-sugar-scoopThis is an easy Bar-B-Que sauce recipe that almost anyone can do with ingredients they probably already have sitting around.  Since it has brown sugar in the recipe, its a sweet, Kansas City Style type of Bar-B-Que sauce and a great place to start for a simple, sweet bbq sauce to try and make yourself.

 

Bar-B-Que Sauce Recipe #1 (A Simple Recipe):

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 dash hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:  In a medium or small saucepan over medium heat, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, mustard powder, and salt.  Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before using on your favorite meat.

 



Honey_JarsHoney Bar-B-Que Sauce Recipe

Here's another sweet Bar-B-Que sauce recipe, this time made with Honey.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, and saute 4 to 5 minutes or until tender.
  3. Stir in ketchup and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes.
