Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce
My favorite store bought BBQ Sauce! Yes, Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce just can't be beat. My wife introduced this BBQ Sauce to me and I always have a bottle of it on hand. I like it because its sweet and tangy in the perfect combination. It's also thick which is great for basting meat on the grill. This sauce hasn't been around all that long. The story about this BBQ Sauce is truly a great one.
Back in 1985 a local Chicago boy named Chef Larry perfected his family's recipe for a sweet BBQ sauce and entered it into the country's largest rib cook off called the Mike Royko Rib-off. Well, to make a long story short, it won over 700 entrants to come in second. They sold the sauce to local mom and pops for a number of years and by 1994 it could be found across the Midwest. Now after searching the web high and low, I've so far found only one possible recipe to mimic the great taste of Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce, at least their Honey version.
